What we're doing about COVID-19

The ongoing health and safety of our staff, participants, and greater community is our top priority. These trying times remind us how important it is to get outside and connect with ourselves and with others. Fieldguides is continuing to provide thoughtful, formative, and safe outdoor experiences for youth during the pandemic. Below you can find up to date and in depth information from local and state health officials as well as current Fieldguides practices and protocols in place to keep people safe.
                     Fieldguides' Health and Safety Precautions:
  • Participants are required to complete a pre-screening form for two weeks prior to the program
  • Participants are required to take a COVID-19 test as long as testing and results can be secured within a week of the program
  • Staff members are tested before the start of the program
  • Staff and participants are screened daily throughout the program
  • Participants engage in safe social distancing practices
  • When safe social distancing cannot be maintained, staff and participants are required to wear masks
  • Proper hand-washing and sanitizing is practiced at all times

A note from FIELDGUIDES and General Manager Galen Camp

This is a challenging moment in our lives. The Sars-CoV-2 virus and COVID-19 have altered the landscape of many of the things we know and love and they continue to test the resolve of our local and global communities. The pain and suffering that accompanies COVID-19 is greater than we have words for, but our hearts go out to all of those who have experienced loss and hardship as well as to those who have put themselves on the line doing essential work to keep others healthy and safe. While no silver lining can provide solace to the effects of this pandemic, seeing the power of the human spirit to struggle, persevere, and come together with kindness and compassion amidst the pain brings much needed hope. Fieldguides hopes that it too can make the smallest of contributions to this spirit by continuing to bring people into the outdoors to bond, grow, and learn together in nature at a time when communal strength and a strong sense of self is so important to foster. We also know that we must be at our best to keep everyone who's trace crosses Fieldguides healthy and safe. With guidance from the CDC, ACA, ACN, OSHA, and local and state officials Fieldguides has crafted the following operational plans, safeguards, and control practices to provide as safe and as conscientious of a program as we know how. By following best practices and working together for the health of our communities we can keep each other safe and give ourselves the chance to build the type of connections we need to move forward and create the world we want to live in. It takes all of us and Fieldguides is ready to do its part.
