About Us

FIELDGUIDES is a small, non-profit, outdoor education organization founded in 1983. We focus on providing personalized camping and backpacking programs for schools and youth groups. 

Our Programs

From coastal science and redwood ecology to gold rush history, we offer a variety of customizable trips ranging from camping overnights to week-long backpacking trips for grades 3-8. 

"Family-Style" Camping

Our unique camping format maximizes the time spent outdoors, provides authentic opportunities for growth, and creates memories that students will be talking about for years to come.

FIELDGUIDES is partnering with the Marine Ecology Program at Fort Ross Conservancy to provide an amazing new outdoor education opportunity combining the great structure and family atmosphere of a traditional Fieldguides program with the expertise and unique location of Fort Ross.
