Camping with Fieldguides

Camping in tents, sleeping on the ground, eating and cooking outside, and roasting marshmallows around the campfire are some of the memorable experiences clients have while camping with FIELDGUIDES. We take care of all campground reservations and permits, and provide a full camping setup including, tents, a full outdoor kitchen, cleaning supplies, and food for the programs. Students, staff, teachers, and chaperones work together to complete daily chores such as cooking & cleaning. Sleeping, eating, and living together under tents, tarps, and the open air creates a unique outdoor education experience that you will remember for years.

Connect

Our unique "family-style" camping format allows staff and students to connect with each other and nature in ways that cabin life does not permit. When you sleep in tents, cook & clean outside, huddle around a fire a night, or listen to the pitter-patter of rain atop a tarp - you have the chance to appreciate nature on a deeper level. The format of our programs maximizes the amount of time students spend outside and increases their connection to the very place they learn about.

Collaborate

FIELDGUIDES' staff, teachers, students, and chaperones all play a vital role in maintaining our campsite and working together to make it all happen. Students help wash dishes, prepare dinner, and pitch in to help complete a variety of camp life chores. This shared responsibility and sense of communal living provides ample opportunities for students to see the importance of collaboration and appreciate the role each of them plays in daily living. These skills translate back into the classroom with improved group work skills and a shared responsibility for creating a positive classroom environment.

Grow

For many students, this might be the first time they have ever slept outside or spent a night away from home. Students experience tremendous growth and an increased sense of autonomy. While some students might feel right at home spending their days and nights outdoors- it might feel foreign or even scary for other students. It is in this area - when students are outside their comfort zones - that the most growth can occur and the fondest memories are made.

Nighttime Activities

One of the key aspects that helps make FIELDGUIDES' programs so special is our evening activities. Our programs are not only daytime education and exploration, we engage with students all the way up till bedtime. Each night experiences informative and fun activities that really bring the camping experience to life for the students. From star gazing, to line dancing, to night hikes, and of course campfires, evenings at FIELDGUIDES are an irreplaceable part of helping students feel more in touch with the world around them.
