Middle School Expeditions
Single Trip & Multi-Year Camping & Backpacking Programs  (6th-8th Grade)

Middle School is often a challenging and transformative time for students. We believe this is a powerful time for students to experience nature. Our trips can be offered as stand alone expeditions or designed as progressive trips over the span of multiple years. The overall goal of a 3-year progressive program is to work towards a culminating student designed and led backpacking trip. Whether you are looking for a single adventure or interested in a multi-year process designed to build new skills each year, we can work with you to customize our programs to include the interpersonal & technical skills of your choosing with the trip length, location, and time of year that works best for you!

During the trip, we will also spend time planning and preparing for next fall. Students will help plan the route & menu and prepare to take on leadership roles. Students will work on taking initiative and making decisions (when will we need to start hiking each day, when should dinner prep take place, how long should our hiking breaks be, how do we motivate the group to get moving). These discussions and practice taking initiative will prepare the students to take on major leadership roles during the 8th grade backpacking trip.
