While there are numerous wonderful places to do coastal environmental programs in California, Memorial County Park in Pescadero (Closed in 2020, instead FIELDGUIDES recommends Sam McDonald County Park located farther up the same road) and Samuel P. Taylor State Park in Pt. Reyes are two of our favorites. Both campsites are nestled amongst the redwoods and Memorial Park in particular has ample trails for exploring the diverse redwood ecosystem. Samuel P. Taylor is located within easy driving range of both the beach and tide pools of the Pt. Reyes National Seashore as well as the Point Blue Palomarin Field Station, where students can see live birds learn about bird banding from the station's experts. |
