FIELDGUIDES INC., founded in 1983, is a small non-profit organization dedicated to teaching people to enjoy, learn about, and care for the outdoor environment. At Fieldguides Outdoor School we work with schools and youth groups to provide custom programs that meet our clients' curriculum and camping interests.
Groups camp with us in public or private campgrounds. We believe that an important part of the outdoor education experience is immersion - having children and chaperones sleep in tents, and cook and eat together in the great outdoors. We pride ourselves on our ability to provide our clients with a total outdoor experience -one that the children will treasure for a lifetime- in all kinds of weather! Teachers from grades K-8 choose FIELDGUIDES because we provide a safe, fun, and highly educational field experience relevant to what students are studying in the classroom. The program is run "family style" with FIELDGUIDES' Staff leading the way. We believe that "small is beautiful" and we strive to keep our groupings small and intimate. Our instructor:student ratio averages 1:10. Activities and chores are done by students, chaperones, and staff together in an atmosphere of cooperation and respect.
