Labor Day Weekend Getaway

Family Days with Fieldguides

Join us for 4 - 7 days of fun at beautiful Camp Unalayee in the Trinity Alps Wilderness. The program is open to adults and children of all ages, don't miss this opportunity to close out your summer with an escape into the outdoors with the help of our amazing staff. We know how hard a full year+ of the pandemic has been for everyone and we are excited to give folks a chance to get outside and reconnect with family and friends.. Fieldguides' has a number of protocols in place to help keep folks safe during the program, we will be requiring pre-trip screenings from all participants and also incorporating social distancing into the program. Thankfully, the Mosquito lake basin offers plenty of gorgeous room for everyone involved to keep their families safe and still enjoy the mountains and friendships that are so special to this place.

-Day hikes for all ability levels
-Arts and crafts
-Rock Climbing
-Basic navigation and wilderness skills
-Overnight hikes (advance notice required)

The Last 3 Days are an even more relaxed and informal event for those who really want to feel at home and at ease in the mountains. We will begin to close down the camp and staff lead activities like day hikes and rock climbing will no longer be offered. We will still:
-Provide 3 full meals per day
-Have a lifeguard on duty
-Build a nightly campfire, but with less formal programming

Meals

Due to COVID-19 precautions all cooking and food service will be done by the Fieldguides staff. We will prepare 3 full meals a day and there will be access to light snacks throughout. Our staff will serve all food to families in order to avoid buffet style service and make sure that there is no opportunity for unsafe food handling and that social distancing guidelines are maintained throughout.

What we provide & What you'll need

Fieldguides provides all food for the program, including three meals a day and snacks. We can also supply tents and other camping gear upon request. To see what you'll need please read our equipment list. Items on the list with an asterisk can be provided by Fieldguides for your use, so if you don't have something please let us know.

Getting There

The Mosquito Lake Basin (named by protective fisherfolk to deter unwanted visitors) is located at the end of a seven mile unpaved road in the Trinity Alps Wilderness in Northern California. Getting there, however, is as easy as driving to Scott Mountain Summit, located along Highway 3 outside of Callahan, CA. Fieldguides will meet participants at the summit between 2:00pm and 3:00pm on Friday, September 4 to help shuttle people and luggage to the base camp.
